A Tarot Spread for Setting Boundaries - The Simple Tarot

A Tarot Spread for Setting Boundaries

Saying “no,” or “that hurts me,” or “I can’t be there for you,” are difficult for most people. But, with practice, we all can set stronger boundaries and allow more honest, fair conversations into our lives. Each time we practice saying “no,” we grow stronger and more aligned with our own integrity.

This tarot spread will help you set boundaries and maintain them with the people in your life in a practical and actionable way.

Reading the Tarot Spread

For the tarot spread, shuffle the cards any way you’d like and lay out four cards in the order shown in the image above.

CARD ONE: Who asks too much of me?
This card represents the person (or the people) who ask more than you are willing to give. Even when you say no (or postpone or delay), they push again and again. They don’t care about your boundaries at all.

CARDS TWO & THREE: How can I respond next time?
Brainstorm some strategies for how you can respond the next time this person pushes you to do or say something you don’t want. What actual language will you use? You don’t need to give them a reason or an explanation, but you do need to be clear and firm.

CARD FOUR: Who or what will give me strength?
Setting and maintaining new boundaries is difficult. You need support. Who or what will give you the strength you need when people push against your new boundaries?
